Turning Life On

By Keeping Tech in Check.

Unite.

I can do things you cannot, you can do things I cannot: Together we can do great things.
— Mother Teresa

Our communities bring together local parents, educators and professionals. Through these communities, we can support each other by sharing information, resources and our best tips that empower community members to embrace digital wellness. Together, we can inspire positive change.

There are three ways to join our community. You can join as a Promise Member, Public Supporter or Private Supporter. Read on to learn more.

Public Promise:

Our public promise helps to reduce the social pressure to have a smartphone by making smartphones the exception, not the rule. Viable alternatives to smartphones already exist in the market. These alternatives allow children to communicate without unrestricted, at-your-fingertips access to the Internet, social media and gaming. Let’s encourage our kids to put their devices down, and pick their heads up!

Healthy and safe technology use is about more than just smartphones in middle school. That’s why we support ALL parents, whether you delay giving your child a smartphone or not, as well as educators and other professionals. You can join your community as:

Public Supporters

will be listed on your community page or our national community page under the “Supporter” column.

Private supporters

will receive the same emails our Promise Members and Public Supporters receive and will have access to your local closed discussion group. Your name will remain private.

Hopkinton Youth and Family Services is excited to partner with an organization that seeks to build community and stronger families! The impacts of smart phone technology on family life and youth development have become an issue of public health concern. Trends of increased social media use and exposure and increased depression/anxiety in youth appear to have synergy in recent scientific data. Fostering in person relationships, time in nature, and time growing skills through hobbies and interests, etc. is shown to promote mental health. We look forward to this initiative growing a culture of safe technology use and “turning life on”!
