Parenting with Confidence in a Complicated, Digital World: Promoting Conversation and Understanding to Help Keep Kids Safer Online

Elementary and middle school aged kids are spending time online engaging with many different apps, games, and websites from Fortnight to YouTube. Recent research has uncovered widespread use of these sites by sexual predators whose goal is to gain access to children. These predators are sophisticated in the ways they communicate with children, build trust, and then shift to requests, shame and threats.

This webinar will review what is actually going on, and what parents can do to keep their kids safe online. Parents will learn practical tips they can implement right now and ways to discuss these concerns with their children. The presentation will center around ways of promoting ongoing communication with your child about their online activity and what children should do if they or their friends encounter an unhealthy online interaction.

Please register here. You will receive a meeting invitation the day before the event.

In this webinar, we will:

Look at how kids are using technology

Review research on adolescent mood disorder and social media’s role

Examine the positive and negative aspects of social media use

Share tips for helping kids embrace digital wellness

Parenting with Confidence in a Complicated, Digital World: Promoting Conversation and Understanding to Help Keep Kids Safe Online

Join psychologist Dr Rachel Kramer and Turning Life On Founder Adrienne Principe to learn more about what is actually going on, and what parents can do to keep their kids safe online. Parents will learn practical tips they can implement right now and ways to discuss these concerns with their children. The presentation will center around ways of promoting ongoing communication with your child about their online activity and what children should do if they or their friends encounter an unhealthy online interaction.

This program is being offered in collaboration with the Center for Parents and Teachers, is free and open to the public. For more information and to register, click here.

Concord Tech Talk

Join Us in Concord on February 26 at 7pm to “Talk Tech.” No experts, presentations or scary statistics. Just parents coming together to share their struggles and support each other so we can help our kids keep tech in check. We’ll provide refreshments and be on hand to answer questions. Bring a friend, stop by anytime. We promise you’ll walk away feeling supported and empowered with at least one new strategy for helping your kids manage technology.

This event is free and open to the public. Special thanks to Lara Wilson and Be Well Be Here for generously donating her space for our use. Be Well Be Here is at 91 Main St, Suite 302 next to Fritz and Gigi on the 3rd Floor of the Milldam Building (side entrance under portico - free parking in the back).
